 CGTP-IN DE PORTUGAL APOIA GREVE GERAL NA GRÉCIA
Caros camaradas,
A CGTP-IN de Portugal expressa a sua total solidariedade aos trabalhadores e sindicatos gregos que, em 23 de Fevereiro de 2011, promovam uma greve geral de protesto e oposição às continuadas medidas anti-sociais e anti-sindicais do governo grego.
Efectivamente, os trabalhadores, os reformados e os desempregados gregos estão a ser atingidos por violentas políticas neoliberais e por medidas de “austeridade” extremamente severas.
Estamos convosco nos objectivos estabelecidos para a vossa greve nacional de 24 horas e com as vossas reivindicações aos empregadores e governo da Grécia.
Tal como vós, os trabalhadores e o povo português estão a ser alvo de brutais políticas anti-sociais, com o argumento da redução do défice publico e de “acalmar os mercados”, ou, por outras palavras, os grandes especuladores financeiros e as instituições europeias internacionais, como o FMI e o BCE, que estão a tentar sufocar, com políticas restritivas, o crescimento da economia real, favorecendo simultaneamente os bancos e os mercados.
Este é na verdade um tempo para a acção e luta dos trabalhadores e dos sindicatos, nos nossos países e em toda a parte. Temos de defender os nossos direitos, os nossos salários e pensões, os nossos contratos colectivos de trabalho e o nosso sistema de relações laborais. Temos de reforçar a luta dos trabalhadores contra as injustiças e as desigualdades.
Em Portugal, a CGTP-IN convocou também uma manifestação nacional para o próximo dia 19 de Março, com objectivos de luta semelhantes.
Desejamos, caros camaradas, grande êxito às vossas mobilizações e protesto no próximo dia 23 de Fevereiro e transmitimos a solidariedade militante da CGTP-IN e dos trabalhadores portugueses.

 CGTP-IN OF PORTUGAL SUPPORTS GENERAL STRIKE IN GREECE
Dear Colleagues,
The CGTP-IN of Portugal expresses its full solidarity with the Greek workers and trade unions that are organising a general strike on 23 February 2011 in protest and opposition to the Greek government’s escalating anti-social and anti-labour measures.
In fact, the Greek workers, the pensioners and the unemployed are being hit by violent neoliberal policies and extremely severe “austerity” measures.
We support you in the objectives you have established for your nationwide 24 hour-strike and in your demands to the Greek employers and government.
Just like you, the Portuguese workers and people are being targeted by brutal anti-social policies, with the excuse of cutting down the public deficit and of “appeasing the markets”, in other words, the big financial speculators and the European and international institutions like the IMF and the ECB, who are trying to suffocate, through restrictive policies, the growth of real economy while favouring the banks and markets.
This is indeed a time for action and struggle of workers and trade unions, in our countries and elsewhere. We must defend our rights, our wages and pensions, our collective labour agreements and our system of labour relations. We must strengthen the workers’ struggle against injustice and inequality.
In Portugal, the CGTP-IN has also called for a national demonstration for 19 March 2011, with similar struggle objectives.
We wish you, dear colleagues, great success in your mobilisation and protest on February 23rd and convey the militant solidarity of CGTP-IN and of the Portuguese workers.
